Impact Gonzalez landed on the 10-day injured list Thursday and will apparently miss more than the minimum, though he's at least trending in the right direction. There's no guarantee he returns to the big-league roster once healthy, as he spent the end of last season in the minors.

Opens season on IL The Dodgers placed Gonzalez on the 10-day injured list Thursday with left elbow inflammation, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

Impact Gonzalez presumably picked up the injury coming out of his final Cactus League appearance March 31. Given that Gonzalez's elbow issue is being characterized as inflammation, he may just require a few days off to allow the swelling subside before he's able to ramp up again. A lengthy stint on the injured list wouldn't appear to be in the cards for Gonzalez, who turned in a 3.57 ERA over 35.1 innings with the Dodgers in 2021 across 44 appearances.

Sent to minors The Dodgers optioned Gonzalez to Triple-A Oklahoma City, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Impact The lefty has thrown 2.1 scoreless frames since returning from a knee injury Thursday. Gonzalez has had a solid season, posting a 3.57 ERA and 33:19 K:BB in 35.1 innings, but he was deemed not worthy of a roster spot now that Joe Kelly (undisclosed) is back from the injured list. Any injury in the Dodgers' bullpen would likely bring Gonzalez back to the big leagues, so his 2021 is probably not over at the MLB level.

Impact Gonzalez was placed on the injured list Aug. 6. He made a brief rehab appearance on Aug. 17, surrendering three earned runs across one-third of an inning. Prior to his injury, Gonzalez logged 16 holds and will presumably return to a high-leverage role to provide some relief to the team's short-handed pitching staff.
