Leading off Sunday Reyes is starting in center field and batting first in Sunday's game against the Rays.

Impact Reyes will be making his third start in the last five games, and he may see even more action moving forward with Derek Hill (knee) landing on the injured list Sunday. Reyes is batting just .238 this season, but if he's able to get going at the plate he could have some fantasy value if the playing time is there.

Impact The outfielder entered the game in right field as part of Detroit's defensive switches in the eighth inning. Reyes then went yard to tack on three runs of insurance in the win. The 26-year-old has struggled a .247/.270/.421 slash line with just five home runs, 17 RBI, 22 runs scored and three stolen bases across 185 plate appearances this year. The switch-hitter will likely continue to be a fourth outfielder down the stretch.

Impact The Tigers ended up winning 14-0 and No. 9 hitter Reyes played a key role in the blowout. All four of his hits were singles, but they were his first hits at the MLB level since the start of June, so he likely won't complain about the effort. Reyes is a depth outfielder at this point with a .193 batting average, but he could earn a little more playing time with Daz Cameron (toe) on the injured list and Nomar Mazara no longer in the picture after getting designated for assignment Friday.

Rejoins Tigers The Tigers recalled Reyes from Triple-A Toledo prior to Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Twins, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Impact Reyes hit a miserable .157 in 27 games before suffering a rib injury June 1. He was activated and optioned to Toledo on July 8, but the Tigers now require another backup outfielder with Niko Goodrum (calf) on the injured list. Reyes has been more effective in the minors, going 10-for-24 with three doubles and two triples in his last six games.
