Loses spot on 40-man roster Nittoli was designated for assignment by the Phillies on Wednesday.

Impact After Philadelphia acquired Erich Uelmen from the Cubs on Wednesday, Nittoli was the odd man out, losing his spot on the 40-man roster. The right-hander spent the majority of the 2022 campaign with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre as a member of the Yankees organization, but he did join the Phillies roster late last year. Nittoli tossed two scoreless innings with Philadelphia in September and could have a shot at joining the big-league roster at some point this summer.

Picked up by Minnesota Nittoli signed a minor-league deal with the Twins on Friday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Impact Nittoli was let go by the Mariners on Thursday, and it didn't take much time for him to find a new team. He posted a 5.61 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 41:7 K:BB over 33.2 innings for Triple-A Tacoma before being released, and he'll now report to Triple-A St. Paul for the Twins.

Impact The 30-year-old Nittoli's first stint in the big leagues lasted just under a week after he was brought up from Tacoma last Friday. He made his MLB debut Wednesday against the Rockies, giving up two runs over one inning. Seattle will call up Keynan Middleton from Triple-A to replace Nittoli in the bullpen and on the 26-man active roster.

Impact A 25th-round pick of the Mariners in 2014, Nittoli will get his first call-up to the majors at age 30 after bouncing around between affiliated ball, the Mexican League and the independent ranks over his eight years in the professional ranks. After re-signing with Seattle on a minor-league deal this winter, the right-hander was a revelation at Tacoma, posting a 3.50 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and a 26:5 K:BB in 18 innings across his 11 outings (four starts). He'll give the Mariners a fresh arm capable of covering multiple innings out of the bullpen after Seattle used five relievers over the final seven frames of Thursday's series-opening win following starter Justin Dunn's (shoulder) early exit.
