Back at first Friday Guerrero (knee) is starting at first base and batting third in Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers.

Impact The 24-year-old returned to the lineup as the designated hitter Wednesday after sitting out a couple games with a bruised left knee, and he'll return to playing the field a couple days later. There never seemed to be significant concern over the injury, and there shouldn't be any worries regarding Guerrero's availability for Opening Day now that he's fully back in action.

Impact He was scratched from Sunday's lineup due to a left knee contusion suffered Saturday and was not in Monday's lineup either. Manager John Schneider will speak to reporters later in the morning and could provide an update on Guerrero's status.

Nursing bruised knee Guerrero was scratched from Sunday's Grapefruit League lineup due to a left knee contusion, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Impact The 24-year-old was slated to start at first base and bat second in one of Sunday's split-squad games versus Baltimore, but he'll instead receive a day off after suffering the injury Saturday. Manager John Schneider said it's a minor issue that won't require medical testing, so Guerrero could be back in action within the next few days.

Impact The good news is the injury is considered minor, as Guerrero is expected back in the lineup for Saturday's contest against the Phillies. Vlad Jr. has had a strong Grapefruit League showing this spring, going 6-for-16 with a double and a home run.

Impact The first baseman launched a no-doubt solo shot to straightaway center field off Nick Nelson in the first inning, Guerrero's first long ball of the spring, before adding an RBI single in the fifth. Guerrero came into camp in excellent shape, and that's translated into early results at the plate -- he's gone 6-for-13 through five games with a 1:2 BB:K.
