ImpactIt's the first time this season that Gurriel has been on the bench when the opposition is starting a left-hander. Perhaps not coincidentally, Gurriel was caught being too casual in the outfield Sunday versus the Nationals when he was slow to get the ball in and the runner advanced an extra base. Dominic Fletcher is in left field and Emmanuel Rivera is the designated hitter Monday.

Jeimer Candelario - Returns to lineupCandelario is back in the Nationals' lineup for Monday's game in San Francisco, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

ImpactCandelario was unavailable for a few days after feeling dehydrated, but he's back in there for the series opener against the Giants. The 29-year-old will be at third base and batting fifth versus Anthony DeSclafani.

Jake Alu - Recalled from Triple-AAlu was recalled from Triple-A Rochester by the Nationals on Monday.

ImpactAlu hasn't done much so far this season with Rochester, batting .247/.322/.377 with two homers through 21 games. He was excellent between Double-A Harrisburg and Rochester in 2022, though, with an .871 OPS, 20 dingers and 15 steals. Alu can play all over the field and should operate in a super utility role with the Nats. He'll be making his major-league debut when he gets into a game.

Victor Robles - Officially lands on ILRobles was placed on the 10-day injured list by the Nationals on Monday with back spasms.

ImpactRobles suffered the injury on a slide during Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks. It is not clear at this point how much time he might miss, but he'll be eligible to return May 17. While Robles is sidelined, Alex Call will be the Nationals' center fielder and Stone Garrett could pick up more playing time in right field.
