Braves fall short of perfect homestand with loss to NationalsATLANTA — The Braves couldn’t complete the sweep Sunday against the Nationals, losing the series finale 6-2 at Truist Park.

Dominic Smith - Hits second home run of seasonSmith went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 6-2 win over Atlanta.
ImpactSmith has been a consistent offensive threat in his first season with Washington, but he hasn't provided much power, which isn't surprising given he's never had more than 11 long balls in a season. The soon-to-be 28-year-old has already appeared in 61 games this season, the third most of his seven-year career, so as long as he stays healthy, he figures to have a regular spot in the Nationals' lineup.

Jeimer Candelario - Hits go-ahead two-run homerCandelario went 1-for-3 with a walk, a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Sunday's victory over Atlanta.
ImpactCandelario's two-run home gave the Nationals a 4-2 lead in the sixth and marked the third baseman's first long ball of June. Coming into the contest, the 29-year-old had just one hit in his last 20 at-bats, so his production Sunday could be a sign he's turning things around. Candelario has played in 61 of the team's first 64 contests, so he figures to get plenty of opportunities to snap out of his recent offensive slump.

Matt Olson - Gives Atlanta early leadOlson went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 6-2 loss to the Nationals.
ImpactOlson opened the scoring with a two-run home run off Trevor Williams in the first inning, but that was all Atlanta's offense could muster Sunday. It was the slugger's first long ball since May 29, and he'd gone just 7-for-40 with 14 strikeouts across his previous 10 games. Olson started the season on fire but has cooled off significantly of late, so it's encouraging to see him back on the board with his first extra-base hit in June.

Bryce Elder - Falters late versus WashingtonElder (4-1) took the loss Sunday, allowing five runs on eight hits and one walk over 5.1 innings against the Nationals. He struck out one.
ImpactElder couldn't get through the sixth inning, snapping a four-game streak, and surrendered a season-high five runs during his first loss. The right-hander has allowed three home runs over his past two starts after giving up just four long balls across his first 11 appearances. Overall, the 24-year-old still boasts solid numbers (2.69 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 65:22 K:BB) through 13 starts (77 innings), but he's currently in a two-game slide. Elder will look to get back on track next time out, which is tentatively scheduled during a four-game set versus the Rockies.
