Hunter Harvey - Claimed by NationalsHarvey (triceps) was claimed off waivers by Washington on Monday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
ImpactHarvey has plenty of talent, but injuries have wrecked his career thus far, holding the 2013 first-round pick to 23.2 career major-league innings, including 8.2 in each of the last two seasons. He's already on his third team of the offseason, as he's been waived by both the Orioles and Giants. His talent should continue to earn him chances, but his unreliability means no team is likely to be particularly invested in him.

Carter Kieboom - Placed on 60-day injured listKieboom (elbow) was placed on the 60-day injured list Monday, Matt Weyrich of NBC Sports Washington reports.
ImpactKieboom was diagnosed with a flexor mass strain in his right forearm this weekend, and the issue will force him to miss the first two months of the regular season. Maikel Franco is now the favorite to begin the year as Washington's primary third baseman, but Kieboom will be in the mix for the role once he's cleared to return.

Cade Cavalli - Dominant in Sunday's appearanceCavalli gave up one hit and struck out six over three scoreless innings during Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Astros.
ImpactThe 23-year-old right-hander entered the game in the seventh inning and wasn't facing any of Houston's big-league bats, but it was still a very impressive performance from Cavalli. After scuffling a bit over six starts at Triple-A Rochester at the end of last season, the Nationals' top prospect is expected to return to that level to kick off 2022, but if he keeps dealing this spring there's a chance he could break camp in the big-league rotation as a fill-in for Stephen Strasburg (neck). Even if the club resists the urge to start his service-time clock right away, a major-league debut at some point this season for Cavalli seems almost assured.

Aníbal Sánchez - Looks good in first spring outingSanchez gave up no hits and two walks over 2.1 scoreless innings in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Astros. He struck out three.
ImpactAfter not pitching at all last season, the 38-year-old looked amped up in his first action of the spring, reaching 93 mph with his fastball. Sanchez is in camp with the Nationals on a minor-league deal but seems to be the favorite for the No. 5 starter spot despite posting a 6.62 ERA and 1.66 WHIP over 53 innings for Washington in 2020.

Adam Morgan - Joins HoustonMorgan signed a minor-league contract with the Astros on Monday that includes an invitation to big-league spring training, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
ImpactMorgan spent the 2021 season as a part of the Cubs bullpen, posting a 4.26 ERA and 1.34 WHIP while securing two saves over 25.1 innings in 34 appearances. The left-hander has been strictly a reliever since 2017 and will have an opportunity to join the Astros bullpen if he performs this spring. Overall, he doesn't represent a very intriguing option considering he has posted two straight seasons with a FIP north of 5.00.
