Lewis Brinson - Diagnosed with left thumb sprainBrinson exited Thursday's contest against the Nationals with a left thumb sprain, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ImpactBrinson collided with Bryan De La Cruz while tracking down a ball in the outfield and was forced to leave the game. However, he appears to have avoided serious injury as X-rays came back negative. It's not clear whether Brinson will hit the injured list, though a few missed games seems like a strong possibility.

Lane Thomas - Returns to benchThomas is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Marlins.
ImpactThomas went 8-for-19 with three extra-base hits and a stolen base while starting each of the last five games, with his past four assignments coming in center field while Victor Robles was sidelined with an illness. With Robles back in action for the series finale, however, Thomas will head to the bench. The Nationals like what they've seen from Thomas since promoting him from Triple-A Rochester on Aug. 15, so he could end up poaching a couple starts per week from Robles and/or Yadiel Hernandez while he's swinging a hot bat.
