Jazz Chisholm Jr. - Back in action ThursdayChisholm (hand) is starting Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Mets, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ImpactChisholm sustained a right hand contusion Tuesday against the Cardinals, but he'll start at second base and bat leadoff Thursday. The 24-year-old's brief absence shouldn't impact his availability for Opening Day.

Jerar Encarnación - Optioned to minorsThe Marlins optioned Encarnacion to Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
ImpactThe 24-year-old outfielder was one of four players demoted to minor-league camp in the Marlins' latest round of roster cuts. Encarnacion will move up a level to begin the 2022 campaign after he spent the majority of the 2021 season at Double-A Pensacola, where he slashed .222/.308/.400 with nine home runs and five stolen bases over 260 plate appearances.

JJ Bleday - Assigned to minor-league campBleday was reassigned to minor-league camp Thursday after spending the start of the spring with the major-league squad, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ImpactBleday remains one of the Marlins' more interesting prospects despite a shaky 2021 season, but he's not yet in consideration for a big-league debut. He was unconvincing in 110 Double-A games last season, homering 12 times while hitting .212/.323/.373, but a .316/.435/.600 showing at the Arizona Fall League meant that he ended the season on an encouraging note. He'll likely open the season with Triple-A Jacksonville.

Luis García - Returns to lineupGarcia (illness) is starting Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Astros.
ImpactGarcia dealt with a stomach bug for several days after being removed from Monday's lineup against the Cardinals. His brief absence shouldn't impact his availability for Opening Day as he competes for a roster spot during camp.

Jesus Luzardo - Raises hopes in spring debutLuzardo tossed three perfect innings and struck out two in Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Cardinals.
ImpactThe 24-year-old southpaw touched 99 mph with his fastball while carving up a St. Louis lineup that included Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado and Dylan Carlson. Luzardo's raw stuff has never been in question, but his ability to command it remains a concern after he posted a 6.61 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 11.0 percent walk rate over 95.1 innings between the A's and Marlins last season. If he can begin to put things together in 2022 though, Miami's already impressive young rotation will be that much stronger.

Sandy Alcantara - Continues to get stretched outAlcantara gave up one run on one hit over four innings in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Nationals. He struck out four without walking a batter.
ImpactJuan Soto took him deep in the first inning, but there's no shame in losing a battle against arguably the best pure hitter in the game. Alcantara is off to a strong start this spring as he prepares for another Opening Day assignment for the Marlins and looks to build on the 3.16 ERA and 1.09 WHIP he's posted over the last two seasons.
