Taylor Williams - DFA'd by MiamiWilliams was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Wednesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
ImpactWilliams was claimed off waivers by the Marlins in early September, and he was removed from the 40-man roster after surrendering five runs on nine hits with a 3:5 K:BB over 6.1 innings. The 30-year-old could head to Triple-A Jacksonville if he passes through waivers unclaimed.

Luís Madero - Contract selected by MiamiMadero had his contract selected by the Marlins on Wednesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
ImpactMadero was designated for assignment in mid-August but will rejoin the 40-man and 28-man rosters Wednesday. The 24-year-old has only four appearances in the majors this season and has spent most of the year at Triple-A Jacksonville, where he has a 3.32 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 58:24 K:BB across 57 innings.

Trevor Rogers - Strikes out 10 in lossRogers dropped to 7-8 after giving up four runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks across 5.1 innings in Tuesday's 7-1 loss to the Nationals. He tied his career high with 10 s...
ImpactRogers has yet to record a win since June 10, and while the All-Star rookie has seen his effectiveness wane since that time, he's pitched well enough to deserve a better outcome. Over that 0-5 stretch which has spanned 11 starts, Rogers has turned in 3.78 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 62:21 K:BB while allowing only two home runs in 52.1 innings. Rogers will tentatively line up for two starts in the final week of the season, with the first of those outings set to come in the Marlins' Sept. 28 doubleheader in New York versus the Mets.

Nick Fortes - Checks out of lineupFortes is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ImpactFortes has appeared in the Marlins' last four games, but he started only two of those contests. He's provided a home run in both of those starts, and he also chipped in a base hit Tuesday in the Marlins' 7-1 loss. Miami currently has four catchers on its 28-man roster, but given his usage of late, Fortes might be the closest thing the Marlins have to a No. 1 option behind the plate.

Juan Soto - Provides two hits, walk in winSoto went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and an RBI on Tuesday in the Nationals' 7-1 win over the Marlins.
ImpactAfter reaching base three times in the win, Soto's OBP now sits at .462 on the season. While that's a 28-point drop from his own 2020 mark, Soto's current figure is still 33 points better than second place (Bryce Harper) among all qualified hitters in baseball. Soto remains in the lineup Wednesday for the series finale in Miami, manning right field and batting third.

Alcides Escobar - Delivers full line in winEscobar went 1-for-4 with a double, a walk, two runs and two RBI in Tuesday's 7-1 win over the Marlins.
ImpactHe extended his hitting streak to seven games in the victory and is now slashing an impressive .394/.400/.485 with six RBI, three runs and a stolen base during that stretch. Escobar will remain in the Washington lineup for Wednesday's series finale, starting at shortstop and batting second.
