Chad Kuhl - Throws 60 pitches in simulated gameKuhl (foot) threw 60 pitches in a three-inning simulated game Tuesday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.
ImpactNationals manager Dave Martinez told reporters that ideally Kuhl will reach five innings before he's ready to return. The right-hander has struggled to a 9.41 ERA over his five starts with the Nationals, but it does seem likely at this stage he'll return to a rotation spot when ready. When that will be is still up in the air, but it seems likely Kuhl will be ready to roll right around the middle of May.

Jake Alu - Batting ninth in debutAlu is starting in left field and batting ninth in his MLB debut Tuesday against the Giants, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
ImpactAlu was promoted Monday from Triple-A Rochester, where had slashed .247/.322/.377 with two home runs and three stolen bases through 21 games this season. The 26-year-old is a versatile defender but seems doubtful to offer significant fantasy production.

Brandon Crawford - Hoping to return this weekCrawford (calf) said Tuesday that he's hoping to return during the Giants' series in Arizona which begins this Thursday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ImpactCrawford ran in the outfield Monday and has also been doing a range of other baseball activities. He was placed on the 10-day injured list May 1 with a right calf strain and the Giants have since promoted prospect Casey Schmitt to help fill the gap at shortstop. Schmitt can also play second base and third base, so he might stick around through Crawford's return.
