Playing time picks up Olivares is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.

Impact Rather than leaning on the struggling Josh Naylor as its primary designated hitter, San Diego has deployed a rotation of players at that spot, including outfielders Wil Myers and Tommy Pham. That's allowed Olivares to start three of the past four games in the outfield, but he'll be relegated to the bench in the series finale in Colorado since an infielder (Manny Machado) is serving as the DH on Sunday.

Impact Myers helped generate a run in the fourth inning when he led off by reaching base on a HBP, stole second with two outs, and came around to score on Edward Olivares' single. The 29-year-old Myers has already hit a pair of home runs this season, and given his history as a base stealer -- Myers has racked up double-digit thefts each of the last four campaigns -- he could outperform his ADP in fantasy leagues if he is able to maintain a tolerable batting average.

Impact Myers has not attempted a stolen base yet this season and running may not be a big part of his game moving forward, but he's showing encouraging signs at the plate. Through five games, Myers has three extra-base hits and five walks against seven strikeouts. His BB/K was a career-low 0.30 last season.

Impact Fernando Tatis and Wil Myers played long ball off Samardzija in the third and fourth innings, respectively, putting the Giants in too deep of a hole to climb out of. Samardzija had a 3.52 ERA last season, but the estimators were far less kind to him on account of a middling strikeout rate and fortunate .240 BABIP. Now 35, Samardzija's mixed-league relevance is holding on by a thread. He should at least be available for more pitches this weekend against the Rangers after throwing just 75 pitches in his season debut.
