Locks down save No. 3 Cano picked up his third save of the season in a win over the Rays on Wednesday after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning. He struck out one in the outing.
Impact Cano was called upon to close out the game with Felix Bautista seemingly unavailable to pitch after he threw 29 pitches Tuesday. The 29-year-old sent the Rays down in order on just eight pitches and has to give up a run in 14 appearances. He now sits at a 0.00 ERA, 0.16 WHIP and 22:0 K:BB over 18.2 innings. His ratios make him a viable fantasy asset even though he is not first in line for saves, but should be the next guy up whenever Bautista rests.

Picks up win Thursday Cano (1-0) earned the win Thursday over the Royals, allowing one hit and striking out three over two innings.
Impact Cano allowed an inherited runner to score in the seventh inning, but the Orioles rallied ahead for good in the eighth. The right-hander has quickly ascended to a setup role, as he's yet to be charged with a run in 14 innings while allowing just two hits and a hit batsman. He's also struck out 16 while racking up two saves and five holds. Cano appears to be the top option for ancillary saves when Felix Bautista is unavailable, at least until Mychal Givens (knee) and Dillon Tate (forearm) return.

He struck out Jake Rogers to escape the jam, and with Felix Bautista likely unavailable after pitching three of the last four days, Cano came back out for the ninth. Impact With Felix Bautista having seen heavy usage already this season, making 11 appearances in the O's first 21 games, manager Brandon Hyde elected to reward Cano for his incredible performance so far and give him his first career save opportunity. The 29-year-old didn't disappoint, and he's now retired the first 21 batters he's faced in 2023 -- the second-longest such streak to begin a season in franchise history.
