Impact Alvarez was absent from the lineup for Monday's game against the Rays, and it turns out that his absence is not rest but rather injury related. Astros manager Dusty Baker told reporters that Alvarez has been experiencing neck pain for the past week, Rome reports. It's unclear at this time if the left-handed slugger is going to need to be placed on the injured list or if he'll be available at all for the series against the Rays in Tampa Bay. For now Alvarez should be considered day-to-day, but there's just as good of chance that the 25-year-old will require a stint on the injured list at this point.
