Yields four runs in loss Darvish (7-5) allowed four runs on five hits and a walk over five innings Sunday, striking out six and taking a loss against Miami.
Impact Darvish coughed up a pair of solo homers to Deven Marrero and Brian Anderson in the third and fourth innings. He then gave up a pair of RBI base hits in the fifth. The veteran right-hander is 0-3 in his last four outings, giving up 16 runs in 19.2 innings (7.32 ERA) during that span. Darvish is now sporting a 3.27 ERA and a 134:27 K:BB through 115.2 frames. He'll look to turn things around is next weekend's projected home start against the Rockies.

Impact The 34-year-old was locked in a surprising pitchers' duel with Touki Toussaint, and when Freddie Freeman broke a 1-1 tie with an opposite-field solo shot in the sixth inning, it tagged Darvish with his second loss in three July starts. He has a 7.36 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 2.5 HR/9 over 14.2 innings on the month, but he'll get a chance to turn things in his next scheduled outing, a road tilt in Miami this weekend.

Impact Darvish described the bullpen session as "strong" and indicated that he's "100 percent" and "ready to go Monday." The right-hander also explained that he was dealing with an illness prior to his last start, explaining, "I felt it in my head. The next two days I was feeling good. But the day of my start, right before the game I went to the bullpen, I started to feel a little like achy in my body." The illness may have been a factor in his poor outing and the Padres' subsequent decision to place him on the injured list, though left hip inflammation was the official diagnosis. Now that the hip is better and Darvish is past the illness, he should have no restrictions when he starts at Atlanta on Monday.
