Chance to start Sunday Eflin (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session Thursday and could be in line to start Sunday at Colorado, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Impact Eflin has passed most milestones to return, with Thursday's session being among the final steps. The Orioles expected Eflin's stint on the injured list to last the minimum period, and it appears he is on pace to meet that timeline.

Expects minimum IL stay Eflin (shoulder) said Thursday that he expects to return from the 15-day injured list when first eligible on Sept. 1, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Impact Eflin landed on the IL Tuesday with right shoulder inflammation but said Thursday that he already feels "10 times better" and doesn't believe he will need any rehab starts before returning. The righty has not yet resumed throwing, so while this is an encouraging progress report, Eflin's return when first eligible can't be written down in ink just yet.

Impact Eflin had shown no signs of his shoulder bothering him, having turned in four straight quality starts with a 2.13 ERA since joining the Orioles. He had been in line to make his fifth start Wednesday versus the Mets but instead will be sidelined for at least the next couple weeks. Cade Povich has been recalled from Triple-A Norfolk and should slide into Eflin's rotation spot.

Impact Eflin allowed hits in four of his six innings of work but managed to keep Boston's offense at bay, aside from when he surrendered a leadoff homer to Wilyer Abreu to open the fourth. The right-hander induced 12 whiffs on the night and racked up a season-high eight strikeouts while not issuing a free pass for the second time in his last four starts.
