Takes loss despite strong outing Wheeler (14-10) allowed two earned runs on four hits and one walk while striking out seven across seven innings to take the loss Tuesday against Atlanta. Impact Wheeler did little wrong in the outing, as the lone runs charged to him came in the second inning on a two-run single by Jorge Soler. He dominated Atlanta otherwise, inducing 11 groundouts and generating 11 swinging strikes on 93 total pitches. Though the outing ended a four-start stretch in which Wheeler allowed one or fewer earned runs, he has still maintained a 1.47 ERA across his last five appearances while striking out 39 across 30.2 frames. Wheeler has also been excellent throughout the season, maintaining a 2.78 ERA with a 247:46 K:BB across 213.1 innings.
