Indy 500

The Indy 500, also known as the Indianapolis 500, is a 500-mile IndyCar Series event that is held annually over Memorial Day weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana.

Held yearly over Memorial Day weekend, the Indy 500 will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2026. The race will start at 12:30 p.m. ET.

The Indy 500 trophy is called the “Borg-Warner Trophy.” It was named for and commissioned by automotive supplier BorgWarner. It is permanently housed at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum and has the name of every Indy 500 winner.

A.J. Foyt, Al Unser, Rick Mears and Hélio Castroneves all share the record for most Indy 500 wins with four wins each.

The Indy 500 is 500 miles, which equates to 200 laps on a 2.5-mile track. The race takes approximately 3.5 hours for the drivers to complete.
