Penalty Overturned The National Motorsports Appeals Panel on Wednesday overturned the L2-level penalty levied against the Joe Gibbs Racing No. 19 team stemming from the season-opening race at Daytona... Impact Briscoe and the No. 19 Toyota team were penalized after their fourth-place finish in the Daytona 500 for modification of a single-source part. The Appeals Panel found that the elongation of some holes in the car's spoiler were not modifications but caused by attachment to the car. The panel overturned the L2-level penalty against Briscoe and reinstated both his points and his fine. In addition, crew chief James Small will not have to serve any suspension as a result of the incident.
