Comes so close to first win of 2024 Buescher finished second to Kyle Larson by 0.001 seconds in Sunday's AdventHealth 400 at Kansas Speedway. Impact Buescher was unfortunately on the losing end of the closest finish in NASCAR history. A lot of the talk this season has been the lack of speed from the Ford camp, particularly at the intermediate tracks. Buescher answered those questions today showing a ton of speed that included winning his first stage of the year. Buescher had a pit road penalty to start stage three, but good strategy helped him get back toward the front. After a late caution, Buescher would come off pit road in second. Buescher got the momentum on the restart to take the lead on the GWC coming off turn two. He had Kyle Larson chasing him down on the final lap and was a bit indecisive entering turn three for the final time. Buescher ran the middle and let Larson get all the way to his outside. The two drivers would beat and bang all the way back to the finish line where it was too close to call. Scoring initially had Buescher as the winner and his team celebrated. After further review, however, it was determined that Larson hit the line first. It's a brutally devastating loss for the No. 17 team, but they still have to be encouraged going forward seeing how much speed they had on a track where their manufacturer as a whole has struggled.
