Crash in Daytona Duel Castroneves crashed and finished 22nd in Daytona Duel 1 for the Daytona 500 NASCAR Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway Thursday night.
Impact In the early going Castroneves would find his way forward in the outside line. He would race up to eighth-place by lap 15, but disaster would strike later in that lap. Zane Smith would get into another car just ahead of Castroneves and cause a multi-car crash that would collect the driver of the No. 91 Chevrolet. Castroneves would be retired for the night, however, he will still make the field for Sunday's Daytona 500 based on a provisional qualifying rule.
