Fast Homestead Practice Nemechek was fastest in Happy Hour practice for the Dixie Vodka 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway Saturday morning. He turned a fast lap of 167.188 mph.

Impact Nemechek is driving in relief of Bubba Wallace this weekend in the No. 45 Toyota. The young talent topped this lone session for the Dixie Vodka 400. Nemechek edged Chase Elliott to turn the fastest lap of the South Florida oval. The young substitute driver looks like he has the speed to challenge the Top 10 Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Filling in for Wallace at Homestead 23XI Racing announced that Nemechek will drive the No. 45 car at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series race in place of Bubba Wallace (suspension).

Impact Nemechek was the logical choice to fill in for this race while Wallace serves his one-race suspension for intentionally wrecking Kyle Larson last week at Las Vegas. Nemechek was the top reserve driver for 23XI coming into the season, but Joe Gibbs wanted to get his grandson Ty Gibbs in the Next Gen car for some experience when Kurt Busch suffered his concussion at Pocono. Nemechek actually participated in the organizational test at Homestead a few weeks ago in the No. 45 car, so he will definitely have a feel of what to expect on that track in these Next Gen cars. His performance on Sunday could certainly go a long way, as Nemechek's plans for 2023 are still unknown.
