Filling in for Wallace at Homestead 23XI Racing announced that Nemechek will drive the No. 45 car at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series race in place of Bubba Wallace (suspension). Impact Nemechek was the logical choice to fill in for this race while Wallace serves his one-race suspension for intentionally wrecking Kyle Larson last week at Las Vegas. Nemechek was the top reserve driver for 23XI coming into the season, but Joe Gibbs wanted to get his grandson Ty Gibbs in the Next Gen car for some experience when Kurt Busch suffered his concussion at Pocono. Nemechek actually participated in the organizational test at Homestead a few weeks ago in the No. 45 car, so he will definitely have a feel of what to expect on that track in these Next Gen cars. His performance on Sunday could certainly go a long way, as Nemechek's plans for 2023 are still unknown.
