Efficient outing off bench Black finished Tuesday's 120-95 Play-In Game win over the Hawks with 16 points (6-7 FG, 3-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four assists, four rebounds and two blocks over 28 minutes.
Impact Black ended the regular-season strong with back-to-back 20-point outings, and that momentum carried into Tuesday's contest when he connected on all but one of his shots while finishing with a game-high plus-34 point differential. Even though he didn't start, Black ended up playing more minutes than starter Cory Joseph (18) and fellow reserve Cole Anthony (20). With the win, the Magic will enter the postseason as the seventh seed in the East and face the defending-champion Celtics in the first round.

Impact Black scored at least 20 points for just the sixth time this season, turning in one of his better all-around performances. The Magic were without their regular starters, affording Black an opportunity to play at least 30 minutes for the second straight game. Despite the season-ending injury to Jalen Suggs, Black has been somewhat of a letdown, even in an increased role. Over his past 26 games, Black is averaging just 9.7 points and 1.2 steals in 22.3 minutes per game.

Impact With the Magic close to full strength, Black's fantasy appeal is quite limited on the offensive side of things. He's been terrific on the defensive end, however, as he now has a total of six blocks and eight steals over his last five games.

He's posted double-digit points in five of his previous six appearances while also dishing out multiple assists five times, so he's making an impact both as a playmaker and scorer. Over that six-game stretch, Black is averaging 14.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.2 blocks per contest.

Impact Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner led the way for the Magic in this one, but Orlando wouldn't have been able to come away with the win hadn't Black been as good as he was coming off the bench. The lack of consistency on a game-to-game basis has been Black's biggest knock in recent outings, but he seems to be trending toward the right path of late. He's scored in double digits in four of his last five appearances, averaging 14.8 points per game and shooting 57.1 percent from the floor in that stretch.

Impresses off bench in win Black amassed 17 points (7-10 FG, 3-5 3Pt), five rebounds, six assists, one block and one steal across 30 minutes during Monday's 118-106 win over the Lakers.
Impact Black led the second unit in scoring during an extremely efficient outing Monday. The 21-year-old struggled over his first seven appearances in March, during which he had averaged only 6.6 points while shooting 35.9 percent from the field. However, Black has scored in double figures in three of his last four appearances, averaging 13.5 points while shooting 64.5 percent from the field. The second-year combo guard has also recorded six assists in back-to-back games.

Impact Black has struggled with consistency this season, and this was just the fifth time he scored in double digits coming off the bench across his 15 appearances since the All-Star break. The former Arkansas standout has carved a solid role in the rotation as the backup point guard for the Magic, but the inconsistency he shows on a game-to-game basis limits his upside considerably, even if he delivers solid outings like Friday's from time to time.

Impact Cole Anthony (toe) and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (rest) were both cleared to play in this game, but Cory Joseph started at point guard again, while Anthony came off the bench. Anthony, who'd missed two straight games, lasted only six minutes before aggravating his injury, allowing Black to see more usage off the bench. This was Black's highest-scoring outing since Feb. 23, when he scored a season-high 23 points. Given the inconsistencies of his production and role, Black doesn't offer a ton of fantasy value, even if Anthony misses extended time.

Impact Black logged just 15 minutes despite the fact the Magic are without both Jalen Suggs (knee) and Cole Anthony (toe). Given Cory Joseph was handed the starting role over Black, it's fair to assume the coaching staff don't have a lot of faith in Black just yet. At this point, it appears as though a consistent starting role is not on the cards.

Shines off bench Sunday Black ended Sunday's 110-90 win over Washington with 23 points (7-12 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 5-5 FT), seven rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal in 27 minutes.
Impact Black carried the Magic in scoring and played a pivotal role in the win with a solid showing, particularly with his shooting from beyond the arc. This 23-point output matched his previous season-high mark, established in a Dec. 19 loss to the Thunder, and it was the fourth time he scored in double digits off the bench in his last six outings. Black is averaging 10.4 points per game while shooting 44 percent from deep since the beginning of February.
