Impact Roddy had his best scoring output of the preseason Wednesday, though he wasn't as efficient as he was over his last two outings. Roddy was traded by the Suns to the Hawks in late July, and the 2022 first-round pick is competing for a depth role in Atlanta's forward rotation. He'll make his final case for a spot on the 2024-25 regular-season roster Thursday against the Thunder.

Bounces back vs. Heat Bufkin tallied 15 points (4-9 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 6-6 FT), four assists, four rebounds and two blocks over 24 minutes in Wednesday's 120-11 preseason loss to Miami.
Impact Bufkin struggled from the field in his last preseason outing Monday against the 76ers. While he committed a team-high five turnovers Wednesday, Bufkin was at least more efficient from the field, and he contributed on the defensive end of the floor with two rejections. Bufkin played in just 17 regular-season games in 2023-24 as he spent most of the year either injured or in the G League. However, the 2023 first-round pick is expected to step into a larger role as the Hawks' backup point guard behind Trae Young after Dejounte Murray was traded to the Pelicans on June 28.

Impact Johnson was Atlanta's leading scorer Wednesday and the second-leading scorer for the game behind Jimmy Butler (24). Johnson, the Hawks' first-round pick of the 2021 NBA Draft, took on an expanded role during the 2023-24 regular season, and across 56 games (52 starts) he averaged 16.0 points on 51.1 percent shooting, 8.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.8 blocks over 33.7 minutes per contest. Johnson is primed to take on a bigger role this season alongside Trae Young and No. 1 overall pick Zaccharie Risacher (rest) after Dejounte Murray was traded to the Pelicans in late June.
