Trade talk losing momentum The 76ers are reportedly willing to retain Simmons (personal) past the Feb. 10 trade deadline before revisiting potential deals for the three-time All-Star during the offseason, so... Impact According to the report, general manager Daryl Morey remains adamant about getting a superstar-caliber player in return in any trade for Simmons, and while Philadelphia remains in ongoing discussions with several clubs, there doesn't appear to be a team that's willing to meet the GM's high asking price. Of course, Morey's stance could be interpreted as a negotiating tactic to drum up demand ahead of the deadline, though there's probably some truth to the idea that the 76ers would have more options available to execute a deal during the offseason, when teams are typically more willing to trade away core pieces. For his part, Simmons seemingly has no immediate plans to rejoin the 76ers, with Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reporting Jan. 12 that a recent meeting between the 25-year-old's agent and the Philadelphia front office resulted in no improvement in the fractured relationship between player and organization. Fantasy managers in redraft leagues who have rostered Simmons throughout the season are probably best off seeing the situation through and holding him through the deadline, but all signs point to him not playing in 2021-22 if he isn't dealt elsewhere.
