Inks two-way deal The Rockets are converting Fernando to a two-way contract, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reports.

Impact Fernando had initially signed an Exhibit 10 deal with Houston. With his new two-way contract, Fernando will likely split time between the G League and NBA in 2022-23. In 10 games with the Rockets last season, Fernando averaged 6.9 points, 4.0 rebounds and 0.8 blocks 9.4 minutes.

Inking Exhibit 10 deal with Rockets Fernando is re-signing with the Rockets on an Exhibit 10 contract, Kelly Iko of The Athletic reports.

Impact Per Iko, Fernando will get an opportunity to compete in training camp with the hopes of landing the final two-way contract available for Houston. Fernando appeared in 10 games for the Rockets last season, averaging 6.9 points and 4.0 rebounds over 9.4 minutes per contest.

Impact Fernando is not known for filling out the stat sheet on a regular basis, so there's no question this was a surprise outing for the former Maryland standout. However, he has proven he can produce when given enough time. He has logged more than 20 minutes twice this season and he ended up with double-doubles in both contests.

Impact Fernando truly came out of nowhere with this double-double, as he hadn't played more than nine minutes in any given game prior to this contest and recorded season-high marks across the board. The fact that he was perfect from the field also stood out, but it wouldn't be realistic to expect these numbers from him on a regular basis. Even after this performance, Fernando is averaging a meager 2.0 points and 1.4 rebounds per game on the season.

Impact Along with Fernando, the Rockets acquired Dennis Schroder and Enes Freedom on Thursday from the Celtics in exchange for Daniel Theis. Freedom was subsequently released, but none of the three other players involved in the deal have been cleared to debut for their new teams, as at least one has yet to pass a physical. Theis will sit out the Celtics' game Sunday versus the Hawks, but Fernando and Schroder could have a chance to play Monday in Utah if the clerical work involved with the trade is completed.
