Inks extension with Motor City Cunningham and the Pistons officially agreed on a five-year, $224 million maximum rookie extension Tuesday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Impact Cunningham's rookie extension could end up being worth as much as $269 million, and the club is committing to building around the young star. The Pistons went out and surrounded the 22-year-old with veterans who can space the floor in Malik Beasley, Tim Hardaway and Tobias Harris. Cunningham has been one of few bright spots for the club in his three-year tenure, and last season was his best one yet. In 2023-24, the 2021 No. 1 overall pick averaged 22.7 points, 7.5 assists and 4.3 rebounds in 33.5 minutes over 62 regular-season games. His season was cut short due to left knee tendinopathy, but he should be good to go for the Pistons' training camp in the Fall.
