Jaylen Wells - Posts 12 pointa in preseason lossWells logged 12 points (4-12 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 3-3 FT), six rebiounds, three assists and two steals across 25 minutes in Thursday's 119-94 loss to the Hornets.
ImpactWells made a splash in the Summer League after being picked in the second round by the Grizzlies. Wells signed a four-year deal worth $7.9 million so they expect him to be a contributor right away. His spot on the depth chart should rise if he continues to log solid numbers in the preseason.

Jay Huff - Generates 15 points from benchHuff produced 15 points (5-10 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, five assists and a steal across 23 minutes in Thursday's 119-94 loss to the Hornets.
ImpactHuff is trying to stay out of the G League and despite a crowded depth chart above him, Thursday's diverse line goes a long way toward his goal. He's now with his fourth team in his fourth season, and the Virginia product demonstrates special skills as a shooter and defender when given the opportunity, but only time will tell if he can impress enough to log some games with the big club.

Desmond Bane - Solid night in lossBane produced 17 points (7-13 FG, 3-5 3Pt), two rebounds, three assists and two steals across 25 minutes in Thursday's 119-94 loss to the Hornets.
ImpactBane is expected to form part of a potent backcourt that will feature Ja Morant and Marcus Smart. Although injury limited Bane to 42 games last season, he logged career-high averages in points (23.7) and assists (5.5). He's also a solid perimeter shooter who will drive up his score with several three-point attempts. He averaged a whopping 8.6 attempts from downtown last season.

Tidjane Salaün - Posts 13 points from benchSalaun totaled 13 points (5-12 FG, 3-10 3Pt), five rebounds, an assist and a steal across 24 minutesin Thursday's 119-94 win over the Grizzlies.
ImpactSalaun will probably see a lot of time in the preseason. The first-round pick has an excellent chance to remain on the roster and avoid a G League post thanks to previous pro experience in France. The power forward enters a crowded depth chart and will play behind Miles Bridges this season.

Tre Mann - Stays hot in preseason winMann tallied 19 points (8-13 FG, 2-4 3Ot, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, two assists and a blocked shot across 22 minutes in Thursday's 119-94 win over the Grizzlies.
ImpactWhile Mann's streak of production is encouraging, LaMelo Ball's return will severely limit the Florida product's usage in the regular season. Mann's situation could be worse, as Ball has had difficulty staying healthy and needs solid bench support. Unless something happens to Ball or Brandon Miller, Mann will toil with the second unit.

Brandon Miller - Drills six threes in blowoutMiller logged 22 points (8-13 FG, 608 3Pt), four rebounds, two assists and a steal across 24 minutes in Thursday's 119-94 win over the Grizzlies.
ImpactMiller's shot betrayed him in his second preseason game, but he more than made up for it with a masterful team-leading performance Thursday night. Were it not for Victor Wembanyama and Chet Holmgren, Miller would have been a shoo-in for Rookie of the Year recognition. The Alabama product took advantage of the opportunity given by LaMelo Ball's absence to take over backcourt duties. We won't see much of Ball in the preseason, so we'll have to wait a bit to see how Ball's return might adjust Miller's role He'll most likely work as the off-guard while Ball re-assumes the job as floor general.
