Dishes 12 dimes in loss Sexton recorded 17 points (7-12 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and 12 assists across 35 minutes during Wednesday's 125-116 loss to the Pistons.

Impact Sexton didn't grab a rebound or record any defensive stats Wednesday, but he did two things very well -- shoot and distribute the ball. The fifth-year guard was an efficient 7-for-12 from the field for 17 points and racked up 12 assists to just two turnovers. The assist total was a career high and helped Sexton finish with his first double-double of the campaign.

Impact For now, everything appears harmonious with Sexton coming off the bench, but it's hard to imagine Sexton retaining this role for the entire season. Mike Conley and Jordan Clarkson have been entrenched in the starting lineup through the first few weeks of the season, but one wonders if that us sustainable with a talent like Sexton waiting in the wings. If Sexton is available on the waiver wire, he's worth a spot on your bench and an occasional start due to his volume with the second unit.

Impact Sexton has played off the bench in all but one game this season, and even though this is a role he's not used to, as he was a regular starter during his four-year tenure with the Cavaliers, he's finding ways to perform. The former Alabama standout has scored at least 15 points in three straight outings and has recorded double-digit scoring figures in all but two of his nine outings, averaging 13.2 points per game and shooting a decent 46.4 percent from the field.

Impact Sexton slotted into the starting lineup for the first time this season, replacing Mike Conley, who was given the night off. While Sexton did manage to put up a serviceable line, it does indicate the reason he has been playing limited minutes is due to where he fits in the rotation as opposed to his knee injury. Based on this, it appears as though he is going to play minutes in the teens on most nights, making him a tough player to trust in standard leagues.

Impact Sexton has seen limited action this season -- surprising, given that he was the centerpiece of the Donovan Mitchell trade. There's been no word regarding Sexton still suffering lingering effects from his meniscus tear last season, so the only assumption we can make is that coach Will Hardy views him as a backup. Sexton has an opportunity Saturday to prove he deserves more time. Encouragingly, he's still been productive per minute, averaging 23.5 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.4 steals per 36 minutes.

Impact It appeared that the guard picked up the injury sometime during the first half of Wednesday's matchup. Sexton posted four points (2-3 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 0-1 FT) and one steal in 10 minutes before exiting. He'll presumably be tabbed day-to-day leading up to the team's next game Friday against Denver.

Impact It's been a bit of a disappointing start for Sexton, who's come off the bench and played limited minutes in all four games thus far. He did suffer a torn meniscus roughly a calendar year ago, so that may be a factor in his reduced workload. Either way, at some point it's possible -- if not likely -- the Jazz will unleash the 2018 first-round pick in a larger role, but for now it's tough to justify starting him in many formats. Through four appearances, Sexton is averaging 12.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 18.5 minutes per contest.
