Impact Banton isn't a part of head coach Nick Nurse's regular rotation, so he'll join the G League affiliate in advance of the 905's playoff game Thursday. Armoni Brooks or Malachi Flynn will likely serve as the backup to starting point guard Fred VanVleet in the Raptors' game Tuesday versus the Hawks.

Back with NBA team Toronto recalled Banton from the G League's Raptors 905 on Wednesday, Vivek Jacob of the Raptors' official site reports.
Impact Banton could fill a spot in the Raptors' rotation Thursday against the Pistons, though his usage will likely hinge on whether Fred VanVleet (knee) returns from a two-game absence. Even if VanVleet is out, Banton may only occupy a limited backup role behind Malachi Flynn, who has impressed while starting in place of the All-Star for the past two games.

Impact Even with top point guard Fred VanVleet (knee) sidelined for both ends of the Raptors' back-to-back set with Brooklyn to begin the week, Banton hasn't been a major beneficiary. Instead, Malachi Flynn was elevated to the starting lineup and performed well in victories Monday and Tuesday, while Banton logged just 19 minutes between those contests. Banton will likely be recalled ahead of Toronto's next game Thursday versus Detroit, but he's unlikely to be included in the rotation if VanVleet is ready to go for that contest.

Impact Banton headed to the G League over the NBA All-Star break, suiting up Wednesday in the 905's win over the Greensboro Swarm and playing 34 minutes. Prior to the break, Banton had settled in as the primary backup to starting point guard Fred VanVleet, but the rookie hasn't garnered enough playing time to warrant much attention outside of the deepest of fantasy leagues. Through the Raptors' first nine games of February, Danton averaged 3.0 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 11.3 minutes per contest.

Impact Banton has been included in Toronto's rotation for most of the season, but the rookie has seemingly fallen out of favor with head coach Nick Nurse since the calendar flipped to 2022. Though Banton dazzled with 23 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in his most recent G League appearance Saturday for the 905, he could still find himself outside of the rotation as he rejoins the Raptors ahead of Sunday's game against the Trail Blazers. Nurse has favored extremely streamlined rotations of late, with Scottie Barnes typically initiating the offense on the rare occasions starting point guard Fred VanVleet checks out of the contest.
