NBA odds: 3 title longshot futures to bet on now
Brandon Williams - Settles in as backup point guardWilliams tallied 12 points (2-7 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 6-9 FT) and seven assists in 24 minutes Sunday in the Trail Blazers' 124-92 loss to the Nuggets.
ImpactAfter agreeing to a two-year, two-way contract with Portland coming out of the All-Star break, Williams has stepped in as the new top backup to starting point guard Anfernee Simons after the injured Dennis Smith (elbow) was waived. Williams has scored 12 points in both of the Trail Blazers' two games since the break, but he's shot just 37.5 percent from the field. Efficiency is likely to remain an issue for the undrafted rookie, but he should have a fairly clear path to a rotation role moving forward. Eric Bledsoe (Achilles) is being evaluated on a game-by-game basis but is without a clear timeline to return, while Damian Lillard (abdomen) is scheduled to be re-evaluated in the next 2-to-3 weeks and could end up being shut down for the season.

CJ Elleby - Offers defensive numbers in lossElleby managed eight points (4-9 FG, 0-3 3Pt), five rebounds, three steals and two blocks across 26 minutes Sunday in the Trail Blazers' 124-92 loss to the Nuggets.
ImpactElleby's production in the defensive categories was noteworthy, but with averages of 0.8 steals and 0.7 blocks since he joined Portland's starting five Feb. 4, he's more of a serviceable contributor in those areas rather than a true standout. His numbers in other categories have been more lacking -- he hasn't topped 11 points, nine rebounds, four assists or one three-pointer in any of his nine starts. Elleby has also fallen below 30 minutes in the past two contests, and his playing-time outlook isn't likely to improve if the Achilles injury that sidelined Justise Winslow on Sunday doesn't prove to be a long-term concern.

Jeff Green - Posts diverse line in blowout winGreen supplied 14 points (4-5 FG, 6-6 FT), three rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block across 21 minutes Sunday in the Nuggets' 124-92 win over the Trail Blazers.
ImpactGreen returned to double figures in the scoring column for the first time in four games, but it took some near-flawless shooting to get there. While the 35-year-old should be entrenched in a starting role for at least a couple more weeks while the Nuggets await the potential return of Michael Porter (back), Green's game-to-game inconsistencies make him a better fit in deep leagues rather than standard 12-team formats.
FEBRUARY 28, 2022•ROTOWIRE
Bryn Forbes - Catches fire from downtownForbes posted 17 points (6-10 FG, 5-6 3Pt), one rebound, one assist and one steal across 25 minutes Sunday in the Nuggets' 124-92 win over the Trail Blazers.
ImpactForbes hit at least five three-pointers in a game for the fourth time this season, but as was the case in each of those other three contests, he offered little supporting production. Even if Forbes captures a consistent 25-plus-minute role for an extended period of time, he should be viewed as little more than an elite streaming option for three-pointers.

DeMarcus Cousins - Excels in blowout winCousins finished with 19 points (7-10 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 3-6 FT), eight rebounds, six assists, one steal and one block across 18 minutes Sunday in the Nuggets' 124-92 win over the Trail...
ImpactCousins sat out Thursday in the Nuggets' first game coming out of the All-Star break while he worked to finalize a rest-of-season contract with the team, but he re-entered the rotation for both ends of Denver's weekend back-to-back set. After providing nine points, eight rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block in 14 minutes in Saturday's win over the Spurs, Cousins raised his production Sunday while getting a slight uptick in playing time due to the blowout. The four-time All-Star should remain a reliable contributor on a per-minute basis, but because he's unlikely to garner more than 20 minutes in a given game while backing up reigning MVP Nikola Jokic, Cousins is best reserved for 14-team leagues or deeper.
