Impact Murray was back with the Nuggets on Sunday after a stint with the Grand Rapids Drive during which he practiced with the Nuggets' G League affiliate. All indications are that Murray continues to make progress as he works back from a torn ACL, but Malone's words Sunday are not the most encouraging update. There's still hope that the star guard could be back before the end of the regular season, but with only three weeks remaining, that's far from a guarantee.

Impact While the Nuggets have been hesitant to put any timetable on Murray's recovery from a torn left ACL, he looks to be nearing the final stages. Denver officially assigned Murray to the G League on Tuesday with the expectation that he'll practice with Grand Rapids on Wednesday and Saturday while the Nuggets are in the midst of a three-game road swing. We should have some more clarity on Murray's timeline once he rejoins the Nuggets -- presumably on Sunday -- but it remains to be seen whether or not he'll be able to log any NBA game action before the conclusion of the regular season.

Impact Murray, who tore the ACL in his left knee last April, is still in rehab mode following surgery, but Denver coaches and members of the training staff have been encouraged by how the 25-year-old has looked during his recent workouts. While Denver has yet to pinpoint a precise timeline for Murray to resume playing, a target date could become more clear once he graduates from shooting and conditioning drills to non-contact practice. Whenever he's deemed ready to make his season debut, Murray will likely face limitations with his playing time and could sit out one half of back-to-back sets, so whenever he returns, he shouldn't be expected to immediately produce at the level he did in 2020-21.

Impact Murray, who recently overcame a bout with COVID-19, has been sidelined all season while recovering from surgery to address a torn ACL in his left knee. Though he sustained the injury in mid-April of 2021 before undergoing surgery soon after, the Nuggets apparently have optimism that the 24-year-old will make his way back into the lineup in less than a full year. In his report, Singer notes that Murray's rehab process has been more difficult from a mental standpoint than a physical one, as he's never contended with a major injury at any point in his career. As such, Denver likely won't push Murray to get back on the court until he's fully comfortable, even if doctors give him the green light beforehand. Since Murray's recovery timeline is still fairly nebulous, he can't be counted on to be back for the fantasy playoffs in most head-to-head leagues.
