Won't return Tuesday Shead left Tuesday's preseason game against the Celtics due to left hamstring tightness and will not return, Aaron Rose of SI.com reports.

Impact The rookie has looked solid thus far in the preseason, and he has made a case to carve out a role off the bench behind Immanuel Quickley (thumb) and Davion Mitchell. Shead will not return Tuesday, though the club is likely just being precautious with the 22-year-old ahead of the regular season. His next chance to suit up will come Friday against the Nets.

Impact Shead has been using the preseason as an opportunity to carve out a depth role at point guard behind Quickley (thumb) and Davion Mitchell, and there's no question he's taking advantage of every minute he has on the court. Shead is a player worth targeting in deep dynasty formats, but he's not expected to have a steady role in the rotation once the regular season begins for Toronto against the Cavaliers on Oct. 23, so his upside in standard formats will be close to minimal.
