Impact Vanderbilt did very little offensively but was his usual self on defense in the win. The acquisition of Vanderbilt is a huge defensive upgrade for the Lakers, who have gone 9-5 with the Kentucky product in the starting lineup. After stints with the Jazz, Timberwolves and Nuggets, it appears that Vanderbilt has landed in an ideal spot, where his skills can be used to full effect.

Impact The Lakers played without star big man Anthony Davis (foot) on Wednesday, and Vanderbilt picked up some of the slack in the post. He registered double-digit scoring for the first time in three games and recorded 10 rebounds for his third double-double as a Laker. Vanderbilt is a more useful player in real life than in fantasy, but he's rosterable in most leagues for his ability to rack up boards and steals.

Impact Vanderbilt cobbled together another strong performance Sunday, producing in all the right areas once again. Although his minutes have been a bit up and down over the past week, he is doing just enough to remain viable in standard fantasy formats. He offers upside in only a couple of categories, and so while he isn't for everyone, there is enough there for him to be useful in a range of situations -- especially with LeBron James (foot) sidelined.

Dominates glass in second half Vanderbilt notched 15 points (6-8 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 17 rebounds, one assist and four steals in 27 minutes during Sunday's 111-108 victory over the Mavericks.
Impact Vanderbilt had a quiet first half with five points on 1-of-2 shooting to go along with five rebounds. The power forward was a force to be reckoned with in the third quarter, however, grabbing eight boards and three steals while knocking down all four of his field-goal attempts for another eight points. He finished the night with a game and season-high 17 rebounds and also led the contest with four steals. It was Vanderbilt's eighth double-double of the season, with his previous one coming back on Jan. 7 against the Bulls.

Impact This wasn't the most productive fantasy line for Vanderbilt, but the Lakers pulled out the win and he saw plenty of minutes despite the return of LeBron James (ankle). Vanderbilt can put up plenty of rebounds, assists and defensive stats when the minutes are there, so his fantasy managers will be hoping this new role sticks.

Impact Vanderbilt played only 17 minutes in his debut, but it's reasonable to assume that his minutes will increase once his back spasms are in check. The Lakers acquired Rui Hachimura and Mo Bamba before the trade deadline, so the team has no shortage of frontcourt support, and it will be interesting to see how coach Darvin Ham chooses to implement the influx of talent. Right now, the Lakers are starting Hachimura at the four, thus limiting Vanderbilt's short-term potential.
