In concussion protocol Hart has entered the NBA's concussion protocol following Friday's game versus the Rockets.

Impact Hart logged 34 minutes in the game but apparently suffered a concussion in the contest and will need to make it through the return-to-participation process before being allowed back on the floor. Fortunately for him and the Trail Blazers, the team doesn't return to action until Wednesday against the Grizzlies, so Hart could avoid missing any action.

Strong stat line against Miami Hart had 10 points (3-4 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 3-3 FT), six rebounds, six assists, one block and three steals across 31 minutes during Wednesday's 119-98 loss to the Heat.

Impact Hart is never going to be known for his offensive contributions, and in fact, he's failed to score more than 10 points in each of his last four appearances. His real value lies in what he can provide in other categories, particularly as one of the best rebounding guards in the league. He's pulled down at least six boards in every game this season and is averaging 9.4 rebounds, along with 10.8 points, 4.0 assists and 1.6 steals, per game.

Impact While Hart didn't play a major role in the offense for Portland, he was efficient when given opportunities and dominated the defensive glass. The 27-year-old has been excellent in the first three games, averaging 12.7 points, 10.0 rebounds and 4.3 assists while making 56.0 percent of his shot attempts. While he only took five shots Sunday, he took 20 shots over his first two contests and will likely receive more offensive chances moving forward.

Impact Hart started the Trail Blazers' first two preseason games this year, and he'll retain that role once the regular season gets underway while Nassir Little and Justise Winslow come off the bench. Over 13 games with Portland last year, Hart averaged 19.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 32.1 minutes per game.

Impact Hart's value to the team is multi-pronged, as he combines an apt backcourt offense with good defense, and Monday's line is a good example of the diverse impact he can have on the game flow. Although the acquisition of Jerami Grant will relegate Hart to a backcourt role with more frequency, it's a good sign that he started the preseason opener. Nassir Little and Keon Johnson will also fight for a larger role behind Hart.
