NBA playoffs: Former Alabama guard rises to starting role Keon Ellis began the 2023-24 NBA season on a two-way contract. On Tuesday night, he’ll be a postseason starter.

The Alabama product has a reputation as a streaky sharpshooter, and the Kings will need solid three-point runs from him to continue their playoff quest.

Impact With 26 points on the night, Ellis easily set a new career-best mark. He's been a remarkable story for the Kings, and he's stepping up admirably in the absence of Malik Monk (knee). Over his last 10 games, Ellis has averaged 10.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steals.

Impact Ellis was a disaster in the loss, managing just 17 minutes despite continuing to start. Although his role remains relatively consistent, the same cannot be said for his production. He is worth considering given the path to minutes but at this point, his lack of upside makes him a tough player to hold.

Impact Ellis came out all guns blazing in the win, scoring a career-high 19 points including four triples. While he was able to add his usual sprinkling of defensive stats, it was on the offensive end where he did most of his damage. While there are going to be some inconsistent performances, Ellis should be rostered in most formats given he will be starting for the remainder of the season.

The four steals were a career high for the second-year guard, while the seven dimes tied his previous best performance, set Dec. 16 against the Jazz. Ellis has had trouble maintaining a spot in the backcourt rotation this season, but if Fox misses additional time, he could have some short-term appeal as a DFS punt play.
