Impact Simpson made two appearances during his stint with the Swarm, but he'll be available Monday for the Hornets' game against the Bulls. He's played just nine games at the NBA level this season, averaging 13.3 minutes.

Flirts with triple-double Simpson had eight points (2-8 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six rebounds, nine assists and one steal in 28 minutes during Tuesday's 110-104 loss to the 76ers.

Impact Simpson was the first player off the Charlotte bench and nearly triple-doubled as he posted career-high marks in assists (9) and rebounds (6). The Hornets are very shorthanded right now, so the No. 42 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft could get an extended look if Tuesday's performance was any indication.

Impact Simpson played seven minutes in the loss, stepping onto an NBA court for the first time. The Hornets were never in the contest, allowing their second and third units to see some extra playing time. It is a momentous occasion for any rookie when they first get a taste of what it's like to play in the NBA, but that is where the news ends given Simpson is far from being an every-night part of the rotation.

Signs two-way pact with Buzz City The Hornets signed Simpson (hamstring) to a two-way contract Sunday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.

Impact The No. 42 overall pick of the 2024 Draft will spend time between the Hornets and their G League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm. Simpson suffered a hamstring injury prior to the draft and will miss the Summer League, but he should be good to go for training camp. The 21-year-old averaged 19.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.6 steals while shooting 43.4 percent from three for Colorado in 2023-24.

To miss Summer League Simpson suffered a hamstring injury during the pre-draft process and is expected to miss Summer League to rehab.

Impact This is an unfortunate injury for Simpson, who undoubtedly would've benefitted from seeing game action during Summer League. However, the team notes the rookie guard is expected to be healthy by the fall and should be available for the start of training camp.
