Struggles Tuesday, out two games Irving (ankle) played 25 minutes in Tuesday's 138-112 win over the Bulls, finishing with nine points (4-10 FG, 1-3 3Pt), four rebounds and three assists. Impact Irving turned in by far his worst performance among his three appearances since making his season debut last week, with the left ankle injury he picked up during Monday's loss in Portland perhaps contributing to his struggles. Even with a subpar outing from Irving, the Nets were still able to cruise to a comfortable victory against the Eastern Conference's top team thanks to big efforts from James Harden (25 points, 16 assists), Kevin Durant (27 points, nine assists), Patty Mills (21 points) and Day'Ron Sharpe (20 points, seven rebounds). Brooklyn will play its next two games at home (Thursday versus the Thunder, Saturday versus the Pelicans), and because of the local vaccine mandates in New York City, Irving won't be eligible until Brooklyn begins a four-game road trip next Monday in Cleveland. While Irving hasn't publicly acknowledged that he plans on changing his stance on getting vaccinated, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN said on "SportsCenter" after Tuesday's game that there's "real optimism within the organization" that the 29-year-old will become a full-time player at some point later this season, per Anthony Puccio of TheSportsSection.com.
