Impact The Hornets are officially labeling Ball as out indefinitely after he fractured his ankle in Monday's win over the Pistons, but given the nature of the injury, a return at any point during the final six weeks of the season never seemed to be a likely outcome, especially with Charlotte sitting outside of the playoff picture. With Ball out of the mix, fantasy managers in redraft leagues can feel confident in cutting bait. The Hornets haven't clarified their plans for the starting lineup sans Ball, but Terry Rozier could take over as the Hornets' primary point guard, while Dennis Smith and Kelly Oubre are also likely candidates to see added run regardless of which of the two players settles in on the top unit. Ball finishes his third NBA season with averages of 23.3 points, 8.4 assists, 6.4 rebounds, 4.0 three-pointers and 1.3 steals over 35.2 minutes in his 36 appearances.

Impact The Hornets aren't yet offering a timeline for Ball's return, but given the nature of his injury, it appears fairly safe to conclude that he'll miss most of -- if not all -- of what's left of the 2022-23 season. Lower-body issues have derailed Ball's third NBA campaign, as it was a Grade 2 left ankle sprain that cost him the first 13 games of the season and an aggravation of that injury that sidelined him for another 11 games. If Ball's season is in fact over, he'll finish with averages of 23.3 points, 8.4 assists, 6.4 rebounds, 4.0 three-pointers and 1.3 steals in 35.2 minutes per game over 36 appearances. Terry Rozier could end up taking over as the Hornets' primary point guard in Ball's stead, but if they elect to keep him at shooting guard, a spot in the starting five would likely open up for Dennis Smith. Regardless of how head coach Steve Clifford elects to alter his lineup moving forward, Smith and Kelly Oubre would seem to be the main candidates to benefit from Ball's absence.

Impact It's not surprising that Ball won't be returning to Monday's game with the Hornets currently up by 16 heading into the fourth, but Ball isn't out of the woods yet. He should be considered questionable at best for Wednesday's game against Phoenix, but it wouldn't be shocking to see this injury turn into a multi-game absence with Charlotte sitting on a record of 19-43. Dennis Smith Jr. is worth a speculative add in most leagues.

Impact Ball went down attempting a crossover and headed straight back to the locker room. It appeared he said that he "heard a pop," and while this isn't the same appendage that has cost him so much time on the sidelines this season, it was concerning to see him leave with what appeared to be a non-contact injury. We should get another update shortly, but if he needs to miss time, Dennis Smith Jr. would get a sizeable boost.

Impact Ball didn't have his best shooting performance and needed 22 shots to score 19 points, but he still came close to posting a triple-double after notching 13 dimes and seven boards. The flashy point guard has been excellent as a distributor of late and has dished out 10 or more dimes in five of his last six appearances. He's averaging 24.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 9.2 assists across 10 February contests.
