Jason Preston - Could get cleared for contact soon Preston (foot) said last weekend that he expects to be cleared for full-contact work in practice in "the next couple of weeks," Andrew Grief of the Los Angeles Times reports. Impact The rookie second-round pick is now six months removed from fracturing his foot and requiring surgery. The procedure will end up preventing Preston from playing at any point in the regular season, and while it's possible he's removed from the injury report if LA makes a deep playoff run, the 22-year-old likely wouldn't be called upon to play meaningful minutes, given his lengthy layoff. Preston should at least be fully cleared in advance of the Las Vegas Summer League, where he'll look to pick up some extended run to make up for his lost development time.
