Ja Morant - Grabs eight boards Friday Morant registered 17 points (7-12 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 3-4 FT), eight rebounds, six assists, two steals and one block over 25 minutes in Friday's 114-109 preseason defeat to the Heat.
Impact Morant returned to the starting lineup Friday following a three-game absence due to an ankle injury, and he finished the preseason finale with a team-high eight rebounds. Morant is looking to bounce back from a tumultuous 2023-24 campaign, during which he missed 73 regular-season games due to suspension and major shoulder surgery. During his last full season in 2022-23, he averaged 26.2 points, 8.1 assists, 5.9 rebounds and 1.1 steals over 31.9 minutes in 61 regular-season games.

Impact Aldama co-led the Grizzlies in scoring Friday with Desmond Bane, and Aldama tied with Zach Edey for second-most rebounds behind Ja Morant (eight). Aldama saw an extended look during the preseason while Jaren Jackson (hamstring) was sidelined, but the former could start in some games during the 2024-25 regular season if the latter is unable to play.

Desmond Bane - Scores 19 points vs. Miami Bane tallied 19 points (8-14 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), seven assists, four rebounds, two blocks and one steal over 26 minutes during Friday's 114-109 preseason loss to the Heat.
Impact Bane led the Grizzlies in assists Friday and co-led in scoring with Santi Aldama. Bane averaged a career-high 23.7 points per game in 2023-24, but he only played 42 regular-season games due to separate ankle and back injuries. The 2020 first-round pick will look to help lead the Grizzlies back to the NBA postseason alongside starters Ja Morant, Marcus Smart, Jaren Jackson (hamstring) and rookie center Zach Edey.

Impact Pippen started at point guard in the Grizzlies' previous two exhibition games. However, Ja Morant is good to go and will get the start in Memphis' final game of the preseason. Pippen projects to provide depth minutes in the team's backcourt this season.

Impact LaRavia won't start in the preseason finale, as the Grizzlies will operate with a lineup that should be closer to what they might trout in Opening Night against the Jazz next Wednesday. LaRavia should carve a steady role off the bench once the regular season begins, though.
