Impact Back in action after a three-game absence due to the illness, McDaniels reclaimed a spot in the starting five. After typically being deployed as the Wolverines' top small forward, McDaniels moved up to power forward in place of Karl-Anthony Towns (calf), who is expected to be sidelined for at least the next month. Though he didn't see a notable spike in production in his first game sans Towns, McDaniels' low minutes Saturday were mostly the result of foul trouble. He should see his playing time pick up while Towns is out of the lineup.

Impact McLaughlin returned to the floor for the first time since Nov. 21 after moving past a calf injury. He looked a little rusty shooting the ball, but he made an impact in other areas, as he outperformed his season averages in rebounds (1.8), assists (3.8) and steals (0.9). McLaughlin didn't appear to be on any sort of minute restriction against the Thunder and should be one of the first guards off the bench behind D'Angelo Russell and Anthony Edwards moving forward.

Impact Nowell had another efficient night shooting the basketball, and he finished with 20-plus points for the third straight contest. It's becoming increasingly clear that he'll continue to see chances off the bench behind Anthony Edwards, as Nowell is averaging 25.8 minutes over his last four matchups after logging 16.5 minutes per contest through his first 19 appearances of the 2022-23 campaign.

Impact With Karl-Anthony Towns (calf) sidelined and with Rudy Gobert getting ejected in the first half, the Timberwolves had to turn to Reid to hold down the fort at center. While logging his most minutes of the season, Reid delivered an excellent stat line highlighted by the excellent rebounding and blocks production. The Timberwolves haven't shown much of an inclination to play Reid and Gobert alongside one another, so on nights when Gobert is able to avoid foul trouble, Reid could find it difficult to clear 20 minutes even while Towns remains out for at least the next month.

Impact Anderson stuffed the stat sheet across the board, with arguably his biggest contributions coming on the defensive end of the court. The UCLA product has scored in double figures in only one of his last nine matchups, but he's been able to make an impact elsewhere by averaging 5.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.3 blocks to go along with 6.8 points over this stretch.

Impact Edwards was a menace on the defensive end in this one, and he's now recorded 11 total steals over his last two games. He broke the 20-point threshold in scoring for the fifth consecutive contest, but turnovers (five) were once again an issue for the young guard. Nevertheless, Edwards should continue to serve as his team's best scoring option moving forward with Karl-Anthony Towns (calf) out at least until the beginning of January.

D'Angelo Russell - Gets ejected against OKC Russell has been ejected from Saturday's game against the Thunder after receiving two technical fouls, Joe Mussatto of The Oklahoman reports.
Impact Russell was the second Timberwolves player that got ejected during Saturday's disappointing performance, as Rudy Gobert was also tossed in the first half after tripping Kenrich Williams. The point guard was given his second technical foul late in the fourth quarter when the game was out of Minnesota's reach and ended with 27 points (10-16 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 5-5 FT), six assists, three rebounds and a steal across 36 minutes.
