Wendell Carter Jr. - Considered day-to-dayCarter (ankle) is considered day-to-day after getting confirmation he suffered a sprained left ankle during Monday's preseason loss to the Pelicans, Jason Beede of the Orlando Sent...
ImpactCarter has struggled to stay healthy, playing more than 60 regular-season games only once during his six-year career. However, it seems he avoided a serious injury after appearing visibly frustrated while getting helped off the court Monday. The Magic have three preseason games left until they open the regular season against the Heat on Oct. 23

Cole Anthony - Productive off bench MondayAnthony delivered 11 points (3-8 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 5-5 FT), two rebounds, two assists and a steal across 14 minutes off the bench in Monday's 106-104 preseason loss to the Pelicans.
ImpactAnthony didn't need a lot of minutes to make an impact off the bench in this preseason opener, and while his three-point shooting wasn't good, he still ended as one of three Orlando players with double-digit points. Anthony is expected to open the regular season as Jalen Suggs' primary backup at the point guard position, but that role shouldn't translate to a lot of fantasy upside outside of the very deep formats and dynasty leagues.

Paolo Banchero - Leads Orlando in scoringBanchero finished with 15 points (5-7 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 4-6 FT), three rebounds and two assists across 22 minutes in Monday's 106-104 preseason loss to the Pelicans.
ImpactBanchero was one of two Magic starters who surpassed the 20-minute plateau in this preseason opener, and it was clear from the get-go that he was going to be the team's primary threat on offense. That shouldn't be surprising, as Banchero is coming off a career-best season in 2023-24 in which he averaged 22.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists in 35.0 minutes across 80 regular-season appearances. Banchero should continue to see steady minutes in the preseason ahead of the regular-season opener against the Heat on Oct. 23.

Jalen Suggs - Woeful shooting in preseason lossSuggs delivered 11 points (3-10 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, two assists and a steal across 22 minutes in Monday's 106-104 preseason loss to the Pelicans.
ImpactSuggs had his first crack at being the Magic's point guard and had a decent showing while being among the players who logged more minutes for Orlando. Even though his shooting numbers were subpar, it's worth noting that Suggs made a career-best 47.1 percent of his shots from the field in 2023-24. Expect him to continue seeing reps as the point guard role ahead of the regular-season opener against the Heat on Oct. 23.

Daniel Theis - Leads Pelicans in minutesTheis posted 13 points (6-7 FG, 1-1 3Pt), two rebounds, an assist and two steals across 21 minutes in Monday's 106-104 preseason win over the Magic.
ImpactThere are several positives to extract out of Theis' first start with New Orleans, as he co-led the team in minutes played while also being just one of two starters who scored in double digits. However, and perhaps even more importantly, he outplayed rookie Yves Missi in both production and time on the court, with Missi logging 16 minutes off the bench and putting up five points, five rebounds, two steals and a block. It's only one game in preseason, but it seems Theis has a leg up in the race to open the regular season as New Orleans' starting center.

Zion Williamson - Efficient in preseason openerWilliamson notched 16 points (8-11 FG, 0-1 3Pt), eight rebounds, three assists and two steals across 19 minutes in Monday's 106-104 preseason win over the Magic.
ImpactWilliamson needed less than 20 minutes to show everyone that the rumors of him being healthy and in excellent shape were true, as the star forward rarely missed from the field and ended just two rebounds shy of recording a double-double. Williamson will be the driving force of the offense for the Pelicans once they open their regular season against the Bulls on Oct. 23.
