Impact This is far from a shocking decision from the Spurs' front office, as Wembanyama is already the team's most important player in both the short- and long-term picture despite having played less than 100 games in the NBA in his career following his rookie. This move ensures Wembanyama will be under contract with the Spurs until the end of the 2025-26 season, and the Spurs will likely choose to sign him to a maximum extension after that.

Impact Castle led the Spurs in points and was a disruptive presence on both ends of the court. The fact that he also led the team in minutes played is an encouraging sign of his role in the rotation. He's not likely to open the regular season as a starter, but he should see decent minutes off the bench at both guard spots.
