Joining McCollum in NOLA The Pelicans acquired Snell, CJ McCollum and Larry Nance (knee) from the Trail Blazers on Tuesday in exchange for Josh Hart, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Tomas Satoransky, Didi Louzad... Impact McCollum is the main prize in the deal for New Orleans, with Snell and Nance likely included as throw-in pieces primarily for salary-matching purposes. Snell had been included in Portland's rotation for much of the season, but as has been the case throughout his career, his defensive-minded, low-usage approach has made him one of the worst fantasy contributors on a per-minute basis. The veteran forward has taken a major step backward as a perimeter shooter in particular in 2021-22, converting only 0.6 three-pointers per game at a 32 percent clip after knocking down 56.9 percent of those attempts in 47 contests with Atlanta one season prior. Expect Snell's playing time to take a hit with the move to New Orleans, and he could find himself outside of head coach Willie Green's rotation when the team is at close to full strength. Since all the players involved in the deal will presumably need to pass physicals before the trade is finalized, Snell likely won't be available for Tuesday's game against the Rockets, but he could make his Pelicans debut Thursday versus the Heat.
