Shut down by Saints Jones carried the ball five times for nine yards and caught both his targets for 13 yards in Sunday's 38-3 loss to the Saints.

Impact The Packers couldn't get anything going offensively in the game and had to abandon their ground game in the second half, rendering Jones almost invisible. He didn't even wind up leading Green Bay in rushing, as AJ Dillon scraped together 19 yards on four carries. Jones should be able to shake off this dreadful performance at home in Week 2 while facing a Lions defense he amassed 311 scrimmage yards and three TDs against in two meetings last year.

Enters season healthy Jones says he'll enter the season healthy after dealing with a hamstring injury early in training camp, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Impact Jones has been back at practice since Aug. 16 and likely would've been healthy enough to play in one or two preseason games if the Packers hadn't decided to rest their star players anyway. He should get plenty of touches Week 1 in New Orleans, though it remains to be seen if Jones benefits or suffers from the new backup situation with AJ Dillon replacing Jamaal Williams in the No. 2 role. Relative to Williams, the 247-pound Dillon seems like more of a threat to steal short rushing TDs but less of a threat to poach targets.

Impact The Packers elected to rest most of their key starters Saturday, and it's unclear if the likes of Jones and the team's other top skill players will see game action before Week 1. Also not in uniform Saturday are QB Aaron Rodgers?, WRs Davante Adams?, Randall Cobb? and Allen Lazard, as well as TE Robert Tonyan?.

Returns to practice Jones (hamstring) returned to practice Monday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Jones missed practice last week and wasn't available for the preseason opener, but the Packers haven't expressed any real concern about his hamstring. Regardless of his preseason workload -- or lack thereof -- Jones will enter Week 1 as one of the more reliable lead backs in the league, this time ceding work off the bench to 247-pound bruiser AJ Dillon instead of Jamaal Williams. The switch could lead to fewer goal-line carries and more targets, but Jones' excellent work in the red zone in recent years should ensure he isn't frozen out there.

Dealing with hamstring issue Jones wasn't present at Monday's practice due to a hamstring injury, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.

Impact Two days removed from the Packers' Family Night scrimmage, Jones isn't taking part in on-field drills, instead focusing on rehabbing his hamstring. The injury may be a minor one, but the team won't take any chances with their highly paid running back. He put pen to paper on a four-year, $48 million contract back in March, and with Jamaal Williams moving on to the Lions in the offseason Jones and second-year pro AJ Dillon are the top two RBs in Green Bay.
