Quiet day against Colts Thielen caught three of eight targets for 31 receiving yards during Sunday's 28-11 loss to Indianapolis.

Impact It's not that Minnesota wasn't trying to feed the ball to the team's top perimeter weapon, as Thielen garnered twice as many targets as the No. 2 option, Irv Smith, during Sunday's defeat. In a similar game script Week 1, Thielen carved up Green Bay during junk time, registering two fourth-quarter scores as the Vikings tried to play catch up. With Minnesota again trailing by double digits in the second half Sunday, Kirk Cousins looked Thielen's way on five occasions. The two were unable to connect for a single completion in the third and fourth quarters, though Thielen did draw an illegal contact penalty as well as a pass interference call. If there is any consolation to invested fantasy GMs, it may be the fact that Thielen next draws a matchup against a Titans defense that surrendered 339 passing yards and three passing touchdowns to Jacksonville during Week 2.

Productive in season-opening loss Thielen brought in six of eight targets for 110 yards and two touchdowns in the Vikings' 43-34 loss to the Packers on Sunday. He also caught a two-point conversion pass.

Impact On a day when quarterback Kirk Cousins struggled to get into rhythm for much of the contest, Thielen accounted for both of the signal-caller's scoring tosses and a sizable chunk of his 259 passing yards. Both of Thielen's touchdown catches came in the fourth quarter with the Vikings trailing by double digits, the first a 37-yard reception with 13:53 remaining and the second a 19-yard grab at the 1:21 mark of the final period to make the final score make the game appear closer than it was. Thielen will look to put up comparable numbers under better team circumstances when the Vikings face off with the Colts in a Week 2 interconference showdown next Sunday.

Impact Thielen's 2019 season was derailed by a hamstring injury in Week 7 and he had just three receptions the final nine games. However, he rebounded in the playoffs, hauling in 12 of 16 targets for 179 yards in two games. Following the Vikings' trade of Stefon Diggs this offseason, Thielen is destined to see plenty of targets in his age-30 season, presumably opposite first-round pick Justin Jefferson. It's encouraging to hear that he's back to top form in training camp and again the top target in the passing offense.
