Impact Averett wasn't on the Steelers' practice squad injured list; however, it appears he's dealing with some undisclosed issue after being cut Monday. The 29-year-old cornerback must now prove that he's returned to full health again before signing with another team.

Impact Pittsburgh originally brought Averett on board back in May, but as the regular season approaches, it's decided to part ways with him. Averett will have to look for another opportunity elsewhere.

Impact Averett already missed four weeks early in the season with a thumb injury, and he'll now be required to miss at least the next four games as well. The 2020 fourth-rounder Amik Robertson will likely see a significantly higher share of snaps in Averett's absence.

Impact Averett spent the first four seasons of his career in Baltimore and played a significant role in 2021, recording 54 tackles (46 solo), three interceptions and 11 passes defensed in 14 games. The Raiders have already significantly revamped their secondary this offseason with the additions of Averett, Rock Ya-Sin and Darius Phillips. Averett sat out the Ravens' 2021 season finale with a rib injury, but he should be at full strength when the Raiders get together for OTAs.
