He will likely need to add bulk as he heads to the NFL at 299 pounds on a 6-foot-3 frame.

Impact Grant is the second safety off the board, landing in Atlanta after a brief trade back from the 35th pick. Grant (6-foot, 197 pounds) is light and tested unevenly as an athlete (4.57-second 40, 34.5-inch vertical, 129-inch broad jump) but he was a four-year contributor and three-year starter at UCF, where he posted big tackle numbers. His light frame suggests he'll do less work in the box at the NFL level, but wherever he lines up, he'll be on the IDP radar if he can compete for a starting role right away.

AJ McCarron - Backing up Matt Ryan McCarron is signing a one-year deal with the Falcons, NFL reporter Aaron Wilson reports.
Impact Ian Rapoport of NFL Network believes it's a sign that the Falcons aren't likely to selected a quarterback in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. The team already passed on that opportunity in the first round, selecting TE Kyle Pitts at No. 4 overall. McCarron has thrown for only 1,173 yards and six touchdowns in the NFL, but he'll definitely have talent to work with if he gets on the field in Atlanta, home of Pitts, Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley, in addition to 35-year-old QB Matt Ryan.
