Activated off IR The Steelers activated Skowronek (shoulder) off injured reserve Saturday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Skowronek was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster each of the first two weeks of the season, and he was then signed to the active roster in mid-September. However, the wideout was immediately placed on IR upon the signing. Skowronek was designated to return earlier this week, and with his activation, he could return to the field Sunday against Washington. If he is active for the contest, Skowronek probably won't see much work on offense given that Pittsburgh's wideout corps is largely healthy and that he didn't see a target during either of the two games he has been active for so far this season.

The Steelers have 21 days to activate him to their active roster before they'd have to keep him on IR for the rest of the season.

Impact Skowronek has been elevated from the practice squad for each of Pittsburgh's first two games but hasn't had much of a role in their offense. His move to injured reserve will keep him sidelined for at least the next four weeks, but presumably, he'll be a part of the 53-man roster once he's healthy after his signing to the active roster Wednesday.

Impact Skowronek has been elevated from the Steelers' practice squad each of the first two weeks of the season. This injury could impact his role this Sunday against the Chargers and keep him on the practice squad, as Calvin Austin (undisclosed) and Roman Wilson (ankle) deal with injuries as well. Pittsburgh currently has Quez Watkins, Brandon Johnson and Shaquan Davis at receiver on their practice squad as well, if needed.

Impact Skowronek spent training camp with the Texans and caught four of eight targets for 32 yards over three preseason contests. Skowronek spent his first three professional campaigns with the Rams, compiling 58 receptions on 93 targets for 575 yards and one touchdown while rushing three times for 26 yards and another score over 45 regular-season games.

Impact The trade acquisition had been impressing during training camp practices, and Skowronek carried over the momentum into his official in-game debut with the Texans. The 2021 seventh-round pick of the Rams finished second in receptions, receiving yards and targets on the night for Houston, with the highlight of his performance his leaping snare of a Davis Mills laser for a 27-yard gain on the Texans' second possession. Skowronek recorded a solid 39-376 line and also scored a rushing touchdown with Los Angeles in 2022, so he certainly has the ability to make a strong play for a deep reserve receiver role on what is a deep pass-catching corps.

Impact The caveat here is that Skowronek is working with the second-team offense against Houston's second stringers on defense. What stands out is the receiver's size at 6-foot-3 and his ability to make contested catches. The Texans' top three wideouts are set with Nico Collins, Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell, but Skowronek is making a bid to be fourth on the depth chart over the likes of Noah Brown or Robert Woods.
